The FTP Cat 5e network cable is a shielded twisted-pair Ethernet cable designed for building local area networks, supporting both Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps) and Gigabit Ethernet (1000 Mbps) applications. It is constructed with four twisted copper wire pairs (24 AWG), which help reduce internal crosstalk and electromagnetic interference, while an aluminum foil shield (FTP) plus an additional grounding wire provides extra protection against external noise, making it suitable for more demanding environments. Each conductor is insulated and covered with a PE sheath, with an overall diameter of approximately 0.97 mm per wire including insulation.
